Club Information

The Canterbury Amateur Judo Club started in 1953 under the name of JudoKwai Christchurch, making it the oldest Judo club in the South Island and one of the first two clubs in New Zealand, and its founding members were instrumental in forming the national body  (The NZ Judo Federation)  in 1956.  A brief history is included on the Club History page.

Since the club has its own dojo, club members are active most days of the week at the dojo at 52 Coleridge Street, Sydenham, Christchurch.  Details of this can be found on the Club Activities pages.

Judokas visiting Christchurch are aways welcome at the club.  Phone number (03) 366-8282 connects to the dojo and is diverted to the home of one of the club's officers to provide answering services when the dojo is not in use.   Judokas contemplating visits to Christchurch wishing to make advance contact with the club should contact one of the club's officers by email as indicated below.

To contact the club, a list of the current officers of the club together with their contact information is provided on the Club Officers page.
